Obviously, an inkjet 11×17 printer is cheaper compared to the laser type but who really wants to wait for the printing of that large a document. Typically it is better to just get a high quality laser 11×17 device rather than a lesser quality inkjet.
Xerox, which became a household name for photocopying and has even become a word in itself that means to photocopy, has also branched out to printers and has delved into wide printing. The Xerox 7760 series aims to become even more successful than the 7750 series. It is aimed at marketing, which is why the colors of its print are really bright and it has excelled in the marketing and advertising categories. The printing is also expected to be really fast. It also has no problem working with both the Mac and Windows.
Another company that has left its mark in photocopying is also treading on wide copy printing by going into the 11×17 printer market is Konica Minolta. Currently, they are pushing the new 8650 model. While it is an 11×17 printer, it works well with different sizes of paper. Comparatively, it’s not as great with the quality of colors as Xerox but it works well, nonetheless. It beats Xerox though in its versatility towards paper sizes.
HP seems to be the winner in the 11×17 printing wars this year. It’s called the HP Color Laser Jet 6015. This machine should be replacing all of the machines in the 5000 series in the near future. While 11×17 printer is expected to take up a lot of space, the HP series is really big. The reason for this is that they have made some changes with their toner storage that has improved quality, but increased the size of the printer. While it is big in size, it is also quite expensive. Should the printer with the largest foot print should also have the largest price, I’ll let you decide.
