I thought it was a laptop, even though it clearly says netbook, I thought they were the same. I’m not pleased with this item, it does not hold CD’s of any type. It’s TOO small. The touch Calibration is bad at first. Does not come with Windows 7, and too many items at the bottom of the screen. I plan on returning it and buying the HP Touchsmart tm2.

Only about 7 months old. The touch screen has already failed. It appears to be a bad connection between the screen and the motherboard. If I pivot the screen, the touch screen quits. I really regret buying this EEE PC T91.

Great… With some Tinkering

I was initially a bit weary about purchasing a tablet this size and at this price with XP but I decided to take a chance. The 1st time I used the T91 I was very pleased with the responsiveness and accuracy of the touch screen. The unit is quite light and very useful in portrait mode. Before I list the pro’s and cons I will say that the only way you will get any enjoyment out of this machine is by loading windows 7 or xp tablet edition. The touchgate software provided is pretty useless, no support for inking in MS office, no journalling software, difficult device drivers and alot of lag in XP. I was pretty disappointed at this point with xp but after I booted windows 7 professional it all changed for me. Inking support and no lag at all. The unit actually runs a whole lot quicker with windows 7 loaded. The ink input and on screen keyboard (even at logon) is priceless. In the preloaded xp its very difficult to navigate using the stylus alone. Battery life is at least 4 hours which is really useful, sometimes even 5. I cant think of any cons, my only recommendation is maybe if you need a little extra speed go for the 2gb dimm, but even without it its quite snappy with win 7. The T91MT is a better choice with win 7 already preloaded. The size and weight are also fantastic, perfect size for your palm and very readable especially in portrait mode. You might have some software niggles but the asus forums are quite useful as no doubt someone has had the same issue before you. Two thumbs up!
OK for the price. Needs minor but important improvements

Looks pretty.Works as it should. Priced well. Touch function works well.
Somewhat slow(I guess OK for the price).
Touchgate with the three floating desktop screens is a dumb distraction and does not add any functionality.
WORST OF ALL,the pen writing in the tablet mode (which was the main reason I bought this tablet)DOES NOT WORK, as the palm touch input is not blocked. This NEEDS to be fixed, including updated software for those of us who bought it without knowing this serious deficiency.
And the User Manual (paper as well as oline) is virtually useless. Does not give any info or suggestions on using the various functions unique to this tablet.

fantastic utility, for a nice price
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve always wanted a tablet PC, and much to my surprise Asus debuted this wonderful netbook just in time for my first semester of college. The T91 is great for online course content, as you can push buttons and click through equations and slides with just a tap on the screen. I’ve quickly become so used to this awesomeness that I keep mistakenly touching the screen of my older, bigger laptop, expecting a mouse click.
For fun and utility the T91 really can’t be beat. I have all my textbooks on board, so it’s the only resident of my bookbag save for my note paper. The screen-swiveled tablet mode is great for reading and reviewing slide shows and notes. And walking around campus it doubles as an mp3 player and a (web) radio!
The only minor annoyances are a less-than-perfectly-responsive keyboard (please, Asus, tune this up in the next version) and the 1GB of RAM – I highly suggest upgrading to 2GB, unless you’re a more patient soul than I.
This is fantastic product for the price, and it allows for some seriously new and exciting uses. If you enjoy innovation and want a super-lightweight way to read ebooks and stay connected, I’d look no further.
The best tablet / net book for the money
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Ok I’ve read the reviews here and I am not amused… As a computer technician I know and trust Asus products without question, and with my recent purchase of the T91 my trust has only grown.
First off for the yokels that bought this for heavy work loads… you’re a moron case in point; with a 16 Gb SSD (solid state drive) and 1 Gb memory topped off 1.6 Ghz processor and a 8.9″ screen did you really think that this could handle that kind of work load? And for the idiots that scratched the surface of your touchscreen with the stylus do you poke your wife or girlfreinds like that? If you do bet you spend alot of time “Alone”.
As a tech and a Sales executive for my own firm I needed a laptop that 1. I could travel with that wasn’t to cumbersome (specially when I’m flying) and 2. when I was up in someones roof or in their wall fixing their network I could still have information and a great test tool at my finger tips. The T91 did that and never broke a sweat…if you haven’t figered it out then let me spell it out for you…”I LOVE THIS MACHINE!!!” My T91 has taken over as mission critical equipment in my work as a tech, I use her to trace network cables, shorts and hub problems. she connects to my test equipment and gives more information on the problems I face. Wireless interfarence and blind spots are no longer problems that bother me.
So you want a good system to do a few things when you’re on the road? want something not to bulky, enough speed to get info on the road, or you’re a tech looking for a cheap alternative to buying high grade test equipment on a buget then look no further… The T91 in my opinion is a great buy and a great netbook / tablet.
Awesome little tablet!

I was looking for a tablet computer that I could use to display my instrument approach plate (IAPs) when flying IFR. This device fit the bill! It is easy to use and does almost all the things I wanted it too with only a few exceptions. I can download my IAPs from the internet site I use ([...] – Thanks DOUG RANZ – If you use him, donate to him, Great Service). I can use FOXIT Reader to view these, finding the plate I need and then going Full Screen in tablet mode and BAM! I have it. Battery life is good and the 12 volt adapter is compatible with aircraft using a 12 volt system. I will use a 24V to 12V adapter for mine.
ASUS owners beware
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The unit is not very reliable. The tablet portion stopped working the first day into the special project that I purchased it for. By the second day, the entire unit had stopped working and would not even turn on. I was several hundred miles from home and had to use a backup unit that I had bought along with me.
It has been returned to ASUS for repair or replacement. Hopefully they will satisfy me with their repair service. Time will tell.
NEVER BUY AN ASUS PRODUCT

We ordered the netbook T91 on October 13, 2009, and it has been in their repair center since. When we first received it, the stylus scratched the screen the first time it was used. We shipped it to the repair center and got it back a couple of days later to find that the power switch would not work. It would not even turn on! We sent it back to the repair center and haven’t seen it since. They are already having to change out parts to a brand new netbook that was used once. We paid nearly $500.00 for it, and it is already needing new parts. There is obviously something wrong with it. Could it possibly be a lemon? They will not send us a new one. If we ever get it back, and something goes wrong again, we are contacting the BBB and a lawyer. I would not recommend ever purchasing anything from them.
Great Notebook
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The ASUS T91 is a great notebook. It is lightweight and easy to operate. I am a home inspector and use it on all my home inspections. It is a little slow but works great for my applications. I carry the T71 throughout the home as I do my inspections and this eliminates the need to centrally locate the computer which saves time..
Imature product

I read about this net book long before it was released and really looked forward to it. Having bought it im a little disappointed. First off its just too slow for the touch interface to function properly. The shift and enter keys are very poorly placed. The touch pad doesn’t work very well, it occasionally thinks you are trying to do something else than move the cursor. If you use the touch pad to write there is no “interpolations” i.e. your writing looks like you wrote it in paint. All in all they should have held off on this till they had improved it a little but on the upside you do get a lot of features for a low price. I especially appreciate the ss-hdd and Bluetooth. I almost rate it 3 out of 5 but everything considered I would not recommend it.
Pretty cool, but sluggish.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It’s light. It runs XP. Touch screen makes it unique. It turns heads. But the Touchgate software is so resource draining, that when it is running, nothing else does. Would be nice if the touchscreen could be turned off to free up cpu and battery. Trying to write with the stylus is difficult since the screen also reads every brush from your wrist or shirt cuff.
Great for the price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Works just great for the reasons I have bought it. I use it as a portable book reader and for light windows applications. Keeps charge for a long time and light weight. If you are looking for a work horse or planning to do a lot of typing this laptop is not for you.

A great product, but a tad bit slow.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great little PC. I use it for taking notes in class and just general computing and internet access. I have installed a full install of MS Office on it, as well as a number of other programs including Firefox 3.5, IrfanView, VLC, and other open source software. The touch features are decent, and the screen is very accurate. I haven’t had to recalibrate it since purchase a few weeks ago.
I also like the flip feature to turn it in true a true tablet. I really like the button that allows you to turn the screen orientation. To help with text entry while I’m in tablet mode, I put the windows onscreen keyboard in the quick start menu.
The only drawback with this computer is the lag. Even during the typing of this review, it has lagged once or twice. I’ll type and it will back up a little bit and then spit out all of the letters at once. I tolerate this just fine, because the computer is otherwise perfect for my uses. I also find issues with playing youtube videos, where it takes a while for the video to buffer in the computer so that the video doesn’t jump. This is not an internet connection issue, but a computer issue.
One myth I would like to dispell – the keyboard is quite typable. I use the keyboard for taking notes in class, and can touch type very easily. It took a little bit to get used to the tab, caps lock, and backspace keys, but other than that, it’s wonderful and easy to type on at full speed.
I purchased the package with the 2gb ram upgrade and the external optical drive, which in my opinion was worth it. The whole package was under 600 bucks from amazon – the other dealers sometimes price the computer itself at 600. Order from amazon, even if they’re out of stock. They’ll send you one when they get it in.
Early Adopter Situation
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
While a very cool concept, this product is fraught with little bugs and glitches that mar the overall experience. The main issue seems to be almost entirely due to the slow processor speed and cobbled together software package.
The computer runs significantly better on Windows 7, but is more prone to glitches and ominous blue screens. (Though perhaps a fresher installation of Windows 7 would fix this). Once support comes out for Windows 7 from Asus (drivers) and W7 is released, I think this can once again be a handy little machine. Though at this point it sits on my desk since I don’t have the time to fix it but know it has the potential to do better.
Hardware/package/look- is very good except for the slow processor
Software- needs plenty of work to make it viable
above average net book
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Above average net book. built very well. Battery life is as advertised. screen swivel is solid.
ram(1dimm/2gig max) and ssd(50mm dell mini 9 kind, super talent makes some) are upgradeable.
Installed windows 7 successfully. Didn’t need to install any drivers other than the graphics card, which i used windows update to install them. no multi-touch. graphics card drivers crash frequently when messing with video card settings and screen rotation. I would recommend staying with windows xp for the time being.
Can boot from a flash drive.

A Good Buy that I dont regret!!!!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have enjoyed my Asus T91. At first when the reviews started coming out about this product, I was a little skeptical about my purchase. I bought this product the morning before all the reviews were released. Once I started seeing all the sub par reviews i started having seconds thoughts. I thought If I don’t like it I’ll exchange it or I’ll resell on Ebay. I had to remember what I was getting this device for. I did not buy this for gaming or to do massive work projects or anything of that matter. If you are considering this or you review this product because of that factor then you wasted your money. This is a quick and easy product to pick up and use at any time. I surf the web, play small lil web games, and view movie clips online with this. I will use this to sum degree with my job because of the touch screen features, but I had to remember which most of the reviewers failed to do when I read the media reviews. Give examples on what net-books are for, which by now we should already know. Instead I think many people reviewed this as if you were using this to do all of your work( NOT ENTIRELY). Yes, the slower atom processor is disappointing but it goes back to your not running battlefield on this device. Like any device, there will be sluggish periods when loading things. I own a Desktop, and that is where I do majority of my work. I bought this with NET usage in mind. The touch screen is good, and the touch screen suite that was offered with this product is good but not great. The people that see this product when I show them. LOVE IT!! Its something new and something innovative. It is small but that’s what I wanted. Once again if I wanted power and a bigger screen. I would use my desktop.
Battery- 5 Hours depending on what your doing.
Keyboard-Small but once you get use to it. Becomes very easy to use to a certain extent
Touch Screen- Good, and accurate, and the Stylus helps.
Overall the product has been a very good buy. I wish it was cheaper but it was worth the money I paid for it. Finger prints are very easy to see, but I am not complaining about that small gripe. I have enjoyed it, and the only reason why I would upgrade is to buy the 10inch version once it arrives. I have been wanting a laptop for a long time, and I felt with the touch screen and being a small device, that this was all I needed especially to carry around and do small business task later on this year for myself. I am not saying this a great device, but I am saying this was worth it for me and my usage.
I hope this helps anyone who is looking to buy this in the future
Not all that I had hoped for…

I ordered the T91 the day it came available, and got it the next day ( 07/16/09 )via Amazon.
I went in understanding that this was a tiny machine, even by netbook standards, but the biggest problem for me is the OS. Now that I have used it for a day I wish I had waited for the Windows 7 version, or even Win XP tablet edition.
This machine comes with basic win XP, and that makes it somewhat hard to use in tablet form, due to the small screen size and relatively slow processor. Accurate finger tapping on a tiny screen like is sketchy at best in XP mode, although ASUS has its own GUI with a few icons that are not that useful.
Notepad has some potential, but trying to rest your hand on the screen when writing will leave marks on your notes.
The machine itself is very well made and pretty robust, with a solid pivot for the screen and lot of ports for whatever you need to plug in. The only complaint I have about the hardware itself is the screen – even at full brightness it’s still a little dim as compared to other netbooks.
Price is also a weak point; you can buy a faster machine with more storage out there for a lot less without the touch screen.
Overall, this netbook has some potential, but as it stands, I think should have waited for Version 2 with a better OS.
